Friday 4 October 2019

We began Thursday morning with a free write in our journals. Mrs. Kristensen helped us with a few sentence frames that we have learned, and then we used our Grade 1 spelling (sounding out) to help us finish our entries. We are learning to write from left to write across our page, and to remember finger spaces between words.
In math we have been exploring subatising. Subatising is the ability to look at an arrangement of objects and accurately determine how many are there without counting. We have been playing games and using some  iPad apps to help reinforce the concept. Yesterday we learned about tens frames and how they can be used to show numbers, and help us to determine more/ less relationships with the number 10.

The afternoon was very exciting as we began our its day of Choosing with all our Open Area friends!
