This week we read a several Halloween stories, and the children wrote little Halloween books of their own. We also worked on our Picasso inspired witches, and they should be ready for simply next week! The children were shown some works by Picasso and shared several opinions about his paintings. We learned that Picasso thought that children were the greatest artists and much of what he tried to do was to emulate the work of children. Mrs. Kristensen then asked us, "what if Picasso painted witches?" We had a lot of fun creating what we thought to be Picasso-like witches using the technique of layering paper we learned, called collage. They should be ready for display next week!

In Outdoor Learning we continue to explore the forest and enjoy some free play. We continue to learn how to work together and how to solve problems, so this week, Mrs. Batista and Mrs. Kristensen had us work in small groups to create land art using material collected  from the forest.

In math we practice our estimation of quantities to 20 each day, and the children are learning to share their strategies and justify their mathematical thinking. We are learning that estimation is part of our everyday lives and that it will help us determine the reasonableness of our answers.
