We took this learning further during art, where we looked at the work of artist, Wayne Thiebaud. Thiebaud was a pop artist who painted all sorts of sugary treats like cupcakes, gumballs, candy and cakes. Mrs. Kristensen showed us how to draw 3d shapes to create cakes of our own.
This morning Miss Heather came to visit our class. She told us a Cree legend about how salmon left the rivers long ago, and did not return until people learned how to treat them with respect. We then ventured into the forest where Miss Heather pointed out several plant species, and various indigenous uses for them. We learned that some plants can be used as remedies for tummy aches, sun burns and chapped lips, how some can be boiled for tea, and how some can even be used to make clothing!
