What a week!!
On Tuesday afternoon, we ventured out into the forest for some free play. We gathered around the story log and read "See a Heart, Share a Heart." The author of this story takes pictures of hearts that he finds in the world around him. Many of us found hearts of our own in the forest, and some us us made our own!
Yesterday we had a wonderful day. We enjoyed our pancake breakfast and the lovely fruit trays some of our mother's provided. We read stories about love and friendship and shared our Valentine's cards.
In guided reading, we read poems and Mrs. Kristensen brought out a basket covered in cloth. From underneath the cloth she revealed pieces of yarn. The children used the yarn and turned it into moustaches, glasses, tight ropes, necklaces, and several other objects. Next, Mrs. K read us "Penguin in Love and we used yarn to write our names, just like the penguin in the story did!
As for today, we are officially 100 days smarter! We shared our collections of 100 items and compared their weights using balance scales. We made our gorp snack, wrote about which 100 things we would wish for, and enjoyed some 100s Day themed centres in the open area. We played race to 100, made necklaces and glasses, and built structures using 100 toothpicks and marshmallows. Zero the Hero even brought us all "$100" bills!!!
