Our morning began with Yoga in the gym and guided reading.

After recess we read a Remembrance Day story and finished our mixed media poppy art. Then it was time for math and calendar. Today was the 40th day of school, so we a visit form Zero the Hero. Zero the Hero comes every 10 days to put a "0" in the ones place, and he always brings a different 0 shaped treat with him every time he visits. Today we all got glow in the dark bracelets! The rest of math was spent practising the formation of those tricky teen numbers.

Outdoor Learning was a little shorter today, due to early dismissal, but we decided to head outside anyway. We discussed some of the changes we have noticed since fall began ( leaves changing colour and falling, cooler days, frost, shorter days etc.) Then we lay on our backs and looked way up in the sky to see what was there.

We drew and labeled what we had seen, and then shared our observations with a friend. We noticed the sun, the greyish colour of the sky, and how the clouds seemed whispy. Some children shared what they know about objects in the sky, and Henry explained the reason for the shortened days is determined by how our planet orbits the Sun and the tilt of its axis.  It was a great way to begin our exploration of patterns in the sky!
We ended our outdoor play by reading an Aboriginal legend called "How Raven Stole the Sun."
