Our days continue to be busy with lots of activities and special events.
In gym we have been continuing to learn some cooperative games, as well soccer and basketball skills. Sometimes we enjoy free play with equipment, and have been having an especially good time with the wheelie boards.

Last week we began a multimedia  art project of a fox. The boys and girls became so interested in foxes, that Mrs. K went to the library to get us all sorts of books about foxes. We even used the iPads to look at images of foxes. We were amazed to see how much you can learn about an animal, just by looking at pictures of them. We wrote about some things we learned in our journals.

"Foxes have different coloured ears.
Foxes have pups."
"Foxes have different coloured eyes.
Foxes can live in a den.
Foxes can fight for food."
"Foxes can play with dogs.
Foxes can fight for food.
Foxes have pups."

In science we are exploring patterns in the sky. Our inquiry will look at objects found in the sky (sun, moon, stars), as well seasonal patterns and weather trends.
Mrs. Kristensen gave each group a few pictures of the same tree. She asked us to organize them in any way we choose, however, we had to have a reason for the organization. Some of us thought the trees depicted seasons, and organized them that way. Other groups thought a "before and after" made sense. Some decided that the pictures could make a puzzle when put them all together. Then we walked around to look at the other groups' arrangements. After reading, The Grand Old Tree," we discussed the concept of a cycle as something that repeats, with no beginning nor end. With this in mind, decided to take another look  at our arrangements to see if we wanted to make any changes. Afterwards, we decided that the pictures depicted a tree through the cycle of the seasons.

Today was the first day of our new Choosing centres. Some of our themes include Christmas and Patterns in the Sky.
