On Tuesday morning we had the H.R. Mcmillian Space Centre come to us for an in school field trip. We were so excited to see a giant bubble set up in the school gym. Some of us thought it looked like a massive snow globe, and others though it was more like a bouncy castle. When we went inside we sat in a circle in the dark, and watched in amazement as the night’s sky came into view. We saw constellations, the moon, and even what the Earth looks like from space. We “travelled” to each planet and noticed some special features of each. Many of us wondered, “what happened to the water on Mars?” and “is there life there?” The boys and girls had so many questions!
The presentation also included a closer look at the space shuttle “Curiousity,” where we got to see some of the living quarters of actual astronauts.
We wrote all about what we had seen in our journals this morning.

In math we continue to practice formation, sequence and recognition of those “tricky” teen numbers. We are also beginning to learn the "counting on" strategy in math, and how to represent numbers in 2 parts. These are both important understandings to have before we begin to formally learn about addition.

Georgia has been our Child of the Week, and we were lucky enough to meet her pet Guinea Pigs, Marshmallow and Caramel. We had so much fun taking turn holding them!

Unfortunately, Outdoor Learning was cancelled this week due to strong winds, but we will certainly try again next Tuesday, rain or shine. We are long overdue for some playtime in the forest.
