We have continued to have a busy few days. The boys and girls have enjoyed aerobics in the gym with our Open Area friends, and today the children asked to play Dr. Dodgeball.
In math we have begun exploring a unit on number sense. Armed with clipboards, we acted as number detectives, looking all around the school for places that we could find numbers. We saw numbers on classroom doors, the faces of clocks, on the shirts of children, on the tag of a fire extinguisher...the list goes on and on!
Today we played a game called roll and write where we rolled some dice, identified the arrangement of dots and then wrote the numeral. Many of us kept asking to add more dice to get even larger numbers. Such clever children :)
This afternoon we also had our first Wonder Wednesday and the boys and girls excitedly shared the meaning of their name, and reasons why their name was chosen for them. We started by sharing out at our tables, and then the children were given the chance to share out to the entire class. This was an excellent opportunity for them to practice their presentation skills, and audience manners.
Please note that your child will be bringing home a field trip permission form on Thursday for a production of Where the Wild Things Are, at the Presentation House Theatre. The field trip is scheduled for Tuesday October 17.
