Mrs. Kristensen has been busy writing reports cards the past few weeks, so hasn't had chance to update the blog. Here is what we have been up to though...

In gym we have been working on bouncing and throwing skills. The West Vancouver Field Hockey Association even came in one day to give us a lesson!

In math we have been learning about different strategies to solve addition equations. We explored making numbers stories with to sided mats, and used balance scales to demonstrate our understanding of equalities. On sunny morning last week, we went outside with chalk and dice to practice writing some addition equations.

On Monday's, we have been playing with 2D and 3D shapes and learning to compare their attributes. Mrs. K thought it would be fun to apply what we had learned and use a combinations of 2D shapes to create realistic cakes, just like the ones artist, Wayne Theibaud paints!

Although we have finished our "light and sound" inquiry in science, we couldn't waste the opportunity to go out into the sunshine to trace all the different shadows we found!

Outdoor Learning has continued to be one of our favourite parts of the week. We work busily together to build forts, bases and shelters; some of us just enjoy the climbing and balancing opportunities that the forest provides. Last week, Dallas Gus came with us and told us an Indigenous story about Bear, as well as how the forest can provide us with many traditional healing medicines. He was able to help us understand the importance of caring for our forests. Afterwards, he beat a drum and we got to dance like Bear around the forest.
