On Tuesday we took the scenic route up to the forest and went on a listening walk, stopping every few minutes to be mindfully aware of all the sounds happening around us. We heard birds, cars, dogs barking, the sounds of footsteps on gravel, planes overhead, water in the creek, and if we were listening carefully enough, some of us even heard the wind. We wrote and drew all the things we had heard on our clipboards.

In science we continue to explore light and sound. We have discussed natural and artificial sources of light, and yesterday our guiding question was, "can you change the direction of light." Armed with flashlights, prisms, mirrors, tape, toilet paper roles and other consumables, the children tested this question and made many some new discoveries of their own.
