We have really been enjoying our inquiry about the sky. We have been reading books and looking at pictures online of various objects in our sky. The boys and girls have so many interesting questions, and we also learned that many of us are already "space experts,''with so much information to share! Today we learned what a fact is, and how to record them on a graphic organizer.

On Wednesday, Jamie came to visit us. He is from the H.R. McMillan Space Centre. We got a virtual tour of space. We saw constellations, the International Space Centre, Pluto's "icy heart", the Mars Rover, and so much more!

In writing we have been continuing to use sentence frames to help us with our writing. We are practicing finger spaces between words, and how to write from left to right across the page. This week we learned how describing words can be used to make our sentences more interesting. Mrs. K gave us popcorn and we used our senses to describe what it looked, felt and tasted like. We turned our ideas into sentences in our journal.

In art we used pastels to create Starry Night. We learned how Vincent Van Gogh would use broken brush strokes to create the movement in his artwork. We listened to the Don McLean's song, 'Starry Night" to help us understand how Vincent might have been feeling when he painted.
