We began our morning by building new spelling words from the "it" family, and then went off to guided reading. It has been great so see the children making the choosing of home reading books part of their daily routine, and using them in addition to their regular guided reading homework.
After recess we had an Open Area meeting, and the teachers introduced us to new Choosing Centres. Some of the themes included winter, and materials and force and motion. All of which will be themes we will be exploring in science.
In math, we have begun exploring the concept of addition as "putting together." This exploration will also include investigating various ways we can solve addition equations. Today Mrs. K invited us to make groups of 3, and gave each group a different set of "toys." She asked us to use these toys to make an addition or "putting together" story. We will film these stories later this week and share them with the class. Some of addition stories included cats inviting more cats to a tea party, knights working together to defend a castle, and pandas collecting bamboo.

We have been enjoying listening to stories about winter, and then created some winter themed art of faces in the snow. Please come by and have a look at them on the classroom bulletin board!
