This week is off to a busy start already! The boys and girls have been continuing to get to know one another better and have had a lot of time to play and work together. We have been reading stories about Pablo Picasso and looking at some of his work. We learned about his "blue period" and the children loved seeing his portraits. We connected to Picasso's idea that things should be painted as we think them, not as we see them. The children loved creating self portraits in the way they see themselves.
In math we are learning how to identify the core of a pattern, and then naming that pattern. (ex. a pattern like cat, dog, cat, dog, is a called an AB pattern; blue, green, red is an ABC pattern). We are also exploring patterns with different materials.
Tuesday morning we began our day in the gym doing yoga with our Open Area friends.
