Monday afternoon was so beautiful and the children were excited to head into the forest for Outdoor Learning. We enjoyed free exploration time, and then learned a simple game played with sticks and a bean bag. This inspired the children to work together to invent games of their own. Some made soccer style games, some created balancing games, and several other groups created obstacle courses using logs and other forest materials.
In math we have been exploring the concept of odd and even numbers. We are still continuing to practice our basic addition facts though, and have learned several strategies for solving unknown equations. The children are moving towards choosing a personal strategy that works best for them. Below, is a suggested card game that could be played at home to reinforce our addition facts.
